Two venom proteases with fibrinogenolytic activity were isolated from the venom of Taiwan habu (Trimeresurus mucrosquamatus), one major crotalid snake species in Taiwan. The purified enzymes showed a strong beta-fibrinogenolytic activity, cleaving the beta-chain of fibrinogen molecules specifically.
